If you are wishing to gain your bronze Medallion we are holding an information session on Thursday night at 6 pm.

To commence training for the Bronze Medallion you must:
Be a financial member of an SLS club;
Be at least 15 years of age on the final assessment date;
Complete an unaided swim of 400 m in 9 minutes or less (goggles and masks permitted) in a swimming pool of not less than 25 m. Evidence of this must be provided to the assessor prior to the commencement of the assessment for this qualification/SLSA award.

Bronze Medallion dates and SRC bridging.

The Bronze Medallion course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to assist with surf life saving patrol operations. Gaining your Bronze and participating in beach patrols over the summer also means you can represent the club at beach, surf and rowing carnivals.
The course will run on the following dates:
October
Friday 28th October – 400m swim, board and spinal board familiarisation (SRC Bridging) Pool swim, Venue Jason lamb splash 6-8
Saturday 29th October – 9.00am – 4.00pm WSLSC – Bronze
Sunday 30th October – 9.00am – 4.00pm WSLSC – Bronze
November
Friday 4th November – 5.00am – 7.00pm Bronze and SRC Bridging
Sat 5th November – 9.00am – 4.00pm Bronze and SRC Bridging
Sunday 6th November – 9.00am – 4.00pm Bronze and SRC Bridging
Sunday 13th November – Back up Day

Most of the training will take place at the club and will be a mixture of theory, CPR & first aid, and beach & open water based practical activities. It would be a good idea to bring a wetsuit to every session as the water is still quite cold. We are also planning some pool sessions at Jason Lamb Splash Factory so that we can work on specific techniques in warmer water.
There are three pre-requisites for this course. You must be:
– 15 years or older (within 60 days of the final assessment),
– a current financial member of the club, and
– be able to swim 400m in 9 minutes or less.
You can sign up to this course by visiting https://mt.lsv.com.au/login and signing in with your SLS Members portal login details.
Interested but can’t make these dates? Please email us to let us know you are interested in doing one of our future courses.
SRC
If you have obtained your Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) within the last two years and are wanting to up-skill to a Bronze Medallion – you can now enrol in an SRC to Bronze Medallion bridging course which will see SRC attending the second half of the course. (
