SRC to Bronze
If you have obtained your Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) within the last two years and want to up-skill to a Bronze Medallion – you can now enrol in an SRC to Bronze Medallion bridging course which will see SRC attending the second half of the bronze course.

To commence training for the Bridging course you must:
Be a financial member of an SLS club;
Be at least 15 years of age on the final assessment date;
Complete an unaided swim of 400 m in 9 minutes or less (goggles and masks permitted) in a swimming pool of not less than 25 m. Evidence of this must be provided to the assessor prior to the commencement of the assessment for this qualification/SLSA award.

SRC to Bronze

The Bronze Medallion course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to assist with surf life saving patrol operations. Gaining your Bronze and participating in beach patrols over the summer also means you can represent the club at beach, surf, and rowing carnivals.

The course will run on the following dates:

Saturday 18th November – 10.00am – 4.00pm Bridging
Tuesday 21st November – 5.30am – 8.30pm Bridging
Thursday 23rd November – 5.30am – 8.30pm Bridging
Sunday 26th November – 9.00am – 4.00pm Bridging
Tuesday 28th November – 5.30am – 8.30pm Bridging
Thursday 30th November – 5.30am – 8.30pm Bridging
Tuesday 28th November – 5.30am – 8.30pm Bridging
Tuesday 5th December – 5.30am – 8.30pm Bridging
Sunday 9th December – 11.45 – 4.45 assessment

Most of the training will take place at the club and will be a mixture of theory, CPR & first aid, and beach & open water based practical activities. It would be a good idea to bring a wetsuit to every session as the water is still quite cold. We are also planning some pool sessions at Jason Lamb Splash Factory so that we can work on specific techniques in warmer water.
There are three prerequisites for this course. You must be:
– 15 years or older (within 60 days of the final assessment),
– a current financial member of the club, and
– be able to swim 400m in 9 minutes or less.
You can sign up for this course by visiting https://mt.lsv.com.au/login and signing in with your SLS Members portal login details and book into the Bronze Medallion Bridging.
